Blueprint Technical Designer

We have filled two positions for this role but speculative applications are welcome.

Full time, permanent, up to £40k (depending on experience) pa working remotely.

Cooperative Innovations are looking for a Blueprint Technical Designer to work across our immersive technology, tools, games, experiences and applications.

We are a multidisciplinary team who predominantly use Unreal Engine (UE4 and UE5) developing work that is experienced by multiple users both via screens and XR headsets. We’re looking for a designer who is driven by user experience, quality, passionate about accessibility, social connection and collaboration. We need a great communicator with the ability to verbalise conceptual ideas.

Responsibilities

You’ll be responsible for going from higher level goals into implement Blueprint in Unreal

You’ll work with stakeholders, design and code team to understand requirements and how to best achieve them across the team.

We’re a small team, with a focus on collaboration across all disciplines.

Communicate and work well and we get things done together.

You’ll be asked to both prototype and iterate, as well as polish and support shipping solutions.

You’ll be proactive contributor to your current project and the wider team.

Testing and iterating with the team as required.

Champion quality throughout.

Solving problems through the application of sound process

Iterate, polish and balance game play systems and mechanics.

Identify and highlight any potential risks in the solutions that are being worked on.

Continuously work to minimise technical and maintenance issues.

Work closely with design leadership to implement and polish compelling gameplay experiences.

Core skills

  • Knowledge of Unreal (UE4) is preferable along with good Blueprint knowledge

  • At least one or more published game, app or experience

  • Attention to detail with a strong ability to analyse and comprehend direction

  • Excellent problem solving skills

  • Great attention to detail

  • Actively seek feedback to improve work while also providing guidance and feedback to peers

  • Ability to adapt and cope with change as the production of the project demand

Experience that may be useful. These are not requirements.

  • Experience with developing for VR, AR or mobile devices

  • Interest in/love for Immersive technologies

  • Remote working experience
