Senior Engineer
working on…

This role is primarily to work on our work with Epic, working on Unreal Engine itself and redacted.

As a small studio, there will however also be opportunities to work on Coop’s proprietary technology platform (KERNL) as well as a variety of game IPs.

Who will I be working with?

We are a multi-disciplinary team of T-shaped creative people, covering Production, Technical Design and QA.

In addition to working on our own tools and products, we also collaborate with an incredible roster of diverse external partners.

This role will report directly to our CTO.

What will I be doing?

Understanding the actual problems, then proposing and solving them. You need to understand a system and what users need it to achieve, before improving or replacing that system.

Senior to us is about agency to take on a feature from the start to a successfully shipped conclusion.

Principal here means being able to apply that definition of senior, but further. Thinking about how approaches may impact all uses of Unreal adds a layer to this.

You’ll be working with a team of other principal and senior engineers, all supporting each other. That collaboration aims to benefit from the experiences of all to come up with pragmatic solutions.

As a senior, the goal is to grow with support to better understand the calls for what the right solution is and why at that time. Especially for larger, or unfamiliar systems.

We run a policy of palette-clense tasks, aiming to have easier win tasks to balance out the deeper investigations.

Apply

We highly recommend and encourage people from all backgrounds to apply.

Simply drop us an email at jobs@coopinnovations.co.uk and be sure to include the role you’d like to be considered for, a bit about yourself and a copy of your CV.

Don’t forget to share any additional experience or skills you have. Diversity makes us stronger as a team, so we’d like to know what skills make you…. you.

What Are We Looking For?

Solid C++ experience is required, with knowledge of C# and Javascript/web development having some use.

Unreal experience is desired but not required. You should feel that you could tackle investigating some kinds of engine systems but not necessarily all types of systems.

Providing you may meet the criteria described above, we actively encourage applicants who may not be from a traditional games background.

We’re after a person to join the team, not a cog to slot into a machine.
